--Adopt a Highway June 3, and October 7 A recent article in the StarTribune detailed the need for service clubs and other groups to participate in MnDOT’s Adopt-a Highway program. Last year in Minnesota, Adopt-a-Highway volunteers filled roughly 38,500 bags with roadside rubbish!
The Rotary Satellite Club of White Bear Lake-NEMetro has recently partnered with the Rotary Club of White Bear Lake to take responsibility for cleaning up a stretch of Highway 36, between White Bear Avenue and Arcade Street. It will be a big job so we will also be inviting other Rotary clubs in the Northeast Metro area to help. Our first clean-up day is scheduled for Saturday, June 3 (rain date June 4) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In addition to people who will pick-up litter, we will need drivers to help shuttle participants to and from the locations along the highway. A central meeting spot is being arranged. MnDOT provides safety vests and bags. Our club provides the hands. More specific information will be available in the coming days.
This is a family friendly service activity. Children 12-17 of age can participate with signed parental permission. It is also a great opportunity to invite friends who might be interested in learning more about Rotary. Important safety information will be sent to each person after they register.
Have fun with your Rotary friends, family, and neighbors while enhancing our local environment.
Please take a moment to sign-up at: https://docs.google.com/

Protez Academy is bringing 24 individuals to Century College to learn how to fit prosthetics on soldiers back in their home country of Ukraine. They will be here from July 22-August 14. The need/ opportunity is to provide housing on 7/28- 29; 8/4-5; 8/9-10. This is a very important need because Protez has 800 people on the list needing prosthetics and this program will train Ukrainian medical personnel to fit them in country. Greg Bartz is the contact. |

I hope you’re having a great summer so far!
I’m reaching out because you previously volunteered with us for Night to Unite, and I’d like to have you back to help out again 😊
Night to Unite (National Night Out) is a statewide event that builds and fosters community bonds between citizens, businesses, and public safety organizations. At Solid Ground, Night to Unite serves as a way for our families, volunteers, staff, and surrounding community to connect over great food and fun activities.
If you are available, I’d love to have you join us Tuesday, August 1st from 5:00-8:00pm at our East Metro Place facility (3521 Century Ave N, WBL, MN 55110) for our annual Night to Unite celebration. Volunteers are needed to help set up & decorate for the event, run one of our many fun activities, and clean up after the event. If you are part of a service group, or would like to help out individually, we would love to have your support!
To sign up for an activity, please visit our SignUp by following this link: https://signup.com/go/mAuhtft
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out! Thank you again for your support of Solid Ground and the families we serve!
I look forward to hearing from you 😊

Kowalski's Strive 10 Miler 5K Sunday November 5th, Noon start.
5K is flat and fast! On a paved path along White Bear Lake, it's out and back and starts just after Noon.
10 Mile course is around beautiful White Bear Lake (Roads are not closed to traffic). We start just outside the VFW and run counter clock wise around the lake. After the first mile which is flat, you will run some hills for a few of the miles. Signs mark the course as well as Rotary volunteers at many of the corners. In Mahtomedi, you run on the should of the road, (244) and it is tight in a few places. After the left turn at Highway 96 the course is flat for the last few miles. We plan on 3 water stops on the course. |
